Battery school - How to take care of your batteries

Welcome to Eloped's Battery School!

In this guide, you will get valuable tips on how to take care of the batteries for your walking scooter in the best way. Here you will learn about the capacity of batteries in the cold, correct handling of used batteries and how to efficiently charge your batteries with both standard and smart maintenance chargers. Follow our advice to maximize battery life and ensure optimal performance, regardless of weather conditions.

Batteries & charging in the cold

If you use your walking scooter during the winter months, it is particularly important for you to remember that the battery's capacity and thus range decreases in cold weather. Despite the cold, charging can be carried out as usual.

This is how you charge your batteries

How you charge your batteries depends on the type of charger you use. Here's a simple guide to ensure your batteries are charged efficiently and safely.

Standard smart charger (Included)

When charging, always charge until the battery is fully charged. You can safely charge for several hours without the risk of overcharging. Maintenance charge your batteries at least once a month to avoid deep discharge.

Smart maintenance charger (Optional)

With a smart maintenance charger, you can charge your batteries until they are fully charged and then leave the charger connected for up to six months. This charger takes care of the maintenance of your batteries, extending their life and ensuring optimal performance. Maintenance charge at least once a month to avoid deep discharge.

About Eloped's batteries for walking scooters

Our batteries are AGM type lead batteries. Because they contain no liquid, AGM batteries are maintenance-free, making them ideal for long-term use. Never store an AGM battery discharged as it may be damaged. It is recommended to never discharge an AGM battery more than 80%, see the graph below.

Handling of used batteries

When changing batteries, we take care of your used batteries and hand them over for recycling. If you do the battery replacement yourself, remember to sort and recycle the used batteries properly. Recycling centers have special stations for lead batteries so that they are handled correctly and minimize environmental impact.

By following these guidelines, you can ensure that your batteries perform at their best even in cold weather conditions and that they are managed in an environmentally friendly manner. Contact us for more tips and products to help you optimize your battery management all year round.
