Yes, to drive an electric moped you will in most cases need a driver's license, but the requirements may vary depending on what type of driver's license you have and what class of electric moped you choose. Here we will go through what applies and help you understand what is required to get behind the wheel.
Driving license requirements for different ages and driving licenses
If you already have a B driving license, which many people have for regular passenger cars, you are ready to drive an electric moped without having to get a separate moped license. For those who do not have a B driving license, a driving license with AM authorization is required instead, which can be obtained from the age of 15.
If you are over 15 and ready to drive an electric moped, then the AM license can be an easy way to get the freedom and flexibility that our electric moped offers.
For our class 2 electric moped, you only need a driver's license, but there is one exception: if you were born before 1996, you do not need a driver's license to drive. This makes the electric moped an accessible choice for many, regardless of age and previous driver's license.
Class 1 or Class 2 – what's the difference?
At Eloped, we offer electric mopeds in both class 1 and class 2, so you can choose the one that best suits your needs. A class 1 electric moped follows traffic rules for vehicles on regular roads, while a class 2 electric moped can be driven on cycle paths, making it especially practical in urban environments.
Easy service and support
Once you have your electric scooter, maintenance is easy. We recommend that you service your electric scooter once a year to keep it in top condition. Each electric scooter comes with a service manual with instructions.
